Considerate (to Study or See with the Stars)
This print is inspired by Robert Macfarlane's reference to Ralph Waldo Emerson in his book about the power of naming the natural world 'Landmarks'. Looking at restoring the 'poetic origin' of words, he highlights how nature sits behind so many of our words including the word 'Considerate' - which comes from 'to study or see with the stars'. As Robert Macfarlane says, 'a mundane word is suddenly starlit, but also our need to pause and spend time with the stars and the moon on a clear night begins to make sense.
The reflection of natural light on water does good things to us humans, but when in the dark, moonlight reflections on water feel even more special, powerful and illuminating. Perhaps reminding us to consider our thoughts, feelings, and pause for a moment to regroup.
